Patient Groups

We have two patient groups each of which aims to link the practice and its patients so that we can provide you with the best possible care.

The first is the Patient Participation Group (PPG). It currently comprises seven patients who have volunteered to work with us, on your behalf,  to ensure that patients and carers are involved in decisions about the range, shape and quality of the services we provide. In short, the PPG acts as a critical friend of the practice and represents patients’ views to us.

The main objectives of the PPG are to:

  • Advise the Eynsham Medical Group (EMG) about patients’ views on the responsiveness and quality of our services;
  • Carry out research into the experiences of those who use the practice;
  • Facilitate two-way communication with our patients;
  • Encourage patients to take greater responsibility for their own health;
  • Work with other patient groups in West Oxfordshire to improve healthcare in our area.

This group is currently looking to recruit more committee members, so if you feel that you could make a meaningful contribution towards achieving the group’s objectives, please get in touch.  The current chairman is Mr Roy Thomas, and he will be very happy to hear from you either by email at roy.thomas@associatedagencies.co.uk, or by leaving a note at either surgery asking him to contact you (please include your name, telephone number and/or email address).

The second group you may wish to join is the Virtual Patient Reference Group (VPRG); you may do this through the practice website. To make it easy for people with busy lives to be active members, VPRG business is conducted totally by email. Since the advent of the PPG, the VPRG has become much lower profile, but we would like to change this and raise its profile once again.  Please feel free to join the group and tell us how you feel the group could link in with the activities of the PPG.

The VPRG

Membership of the VPRG is open to all patients who are registered with the practice. We are keen to get as broad a representation of the practice’s patient demography as possible and are, therefore, keen to attract members from all age groups; at the moment, we would particularly like to recruit members from the 17-24, 35-44 and 84+ year age groups and would like more men to sign up. To sign up just fill out the proforma application which is attached to this link: Virtual Patient Reference Group
